Bonjour. Just a few days left before packing thi Bonjour.

Just a few days left before packing this tour guide’s bag for the first time this season.

A few days left to enjoy my city and the slower pace of French life “en province.”

In 2026 itinerant tours will take me to Paris, the Loire Valley and Normandy as I introduce groups of North American travelers to la Belle France.

We will try and go beyond the postcard and gain understanding while challenging perspectives.

I can’t complain. I do what I love, teaching and sharing France.

Bring it on, 2026 touring season!

This tour guide’s ready.

Bonjour. Paris in March: The weather can change Bonjour.

Paris in March: The weather can change several times a day. Not quite the end of winter. Not quite the start of spring either.

The urban explorer only needs to dress in layers (and carry an umbrella) to enjoy some Paris magic.

Behold the peaceful Square du Temple in the early morning. Hardly a local (or visitor) around, just birds to keep me company.

A lot has happened in this neighborhood once the seat of a fortified medieval compound protected by a mighty order, the Knights Templars.

Few remember today the plight of the royal family imprisoned in a tall tower here as they awaited their fate.

This is March 2026. At peaceful square du Temple, doom and gloom have been replaced by pink blooms.

Bienvenue à Paris.

Bonjour. A fun (and productive) Parisian week wi Bonjour.

A fun (and productive) Parisian week winds down this morning.

What a treat to spend a few days solo in the city I once called home!

Long walks (some took me down memory lane,) special moments with friends old and new, leisurely meals and “noisettes” savored “en terrasse,” some sun, some rain… in short, “de belles retrouvailles.”

I will return often during the 2026 touring season, introducing visitors to local landmarks (and some of my favorite corners too.)

For now, time to say “Merci, Paris!”

Au revoir et à très bientôt,

Edmonds, WA, a small town north of Seattle. Over Edmonds, WA, a small town north of Seattle.

Over 130 @ricksteveseurope guides met there for a week earlier this month.

Fun to reconnect with friends and the office team we don't always get to meet on the road.

Proud to be a Rick Steves guide (6th season and counting!)

Proud to be a European.

Bonjour. Not all company events are created equal Bonjour.

Not all company events are created equal as I found out during my corporate career in France and in the US.

In February 2026 I returned to Edmonds, WA (once a favorite destination during my Seattle days) to meet over 130 European tour guides, the office team that makes it all happen and the man who brings us together every 18 months on the West Coast: Rick Steves.

There were keynote speeches, logistics meetings, team activities, and fun evenings - “for sure.”

There was a lively end-of-workshop party - “for sure.”

Mostly there was a constellation of talented, enthusiastic people, so different and yet so similar: This week Europe descended upon a small town north of Seattle, WA.

Our common language: English. Our common goal: Share our native lands’ culture with North American travelers during the upcoming travel season.

We worked hard. Learned. Fought (and almost defeated) jet lag. Played hard too.

Above all, we enjoyed our times together in the spectacular and (exceptionally) sunny Pacific Northwest.

My favorite part? Reconnecting in person with the great “Class of 2019,” a merry bunch of guides I am lucky to call friends. I couldn’t be more proud to belong to that group!

Merci les amis.

Merci @ricksteves and @ricksteveseurope for bringing us all together once again.

Long live international friendships, travel adventures and… Go Hawks! :-)
