Bonjour. Not all company events are created equal Bonjour.

Not all company events are created equal as I found out during my corporate career in France and in the US.

In February 2026 I returned to Edmonds, WA (once a favorite destination during my Seattle days) to meet over 130 European tour guides, the office team that makes it all happen and the man who brings us together every 18 months on the West Coast: Rick Steves.

There were keynote speeches, logistics meetings, team activities, and fun evenings - “for sure.”

There was a lively end-of-workshop party - “for sure.”

Mostly there was a constellation of talented, enthusiastic people, so different and yet so similar: This week Europe descended upon a small town north of Seattle, WA.

Our common language: English. Our common goal: Share our native lands’ culture with North American travelers during the upcoming travel season.

We worked hard. Learned. Fought (and almost defeated) jet lag. Played hard too.

Above all, we enjoyed our times together in the spectacular and (exceptionally) sunny Pacific Northwest.

My favorite part? Reconnecting in person with the great “Class of 2019,” a merry bunch of guides I am lucky to call friends. I couldn’t be more proud to belong to that group!

Merci les amis.

Merci @ricksteves and @ricksteveseurope for bringing us all together once again.

Long live international friendships, travel adventures and… Go Hawks! :-)

Bonjour. What’s not to like in Lille, the Northe Bonjour.

What’s not to like in Lille, the Northern Belle with a tumultuous past now a renowned cultural hub in Europe?

Is this France? Is this Flanders?

It’s Lille, bustling, lively and magical during the Holidays.

When the sun shines in December you forget the cold, bundle up and make the most of your stay.

Bienvenue à Lille !

I spent part of my childhood years here, and Lille still feels like home.

If you enjoy this reel, look for my new virtual guided tour on the France with Vero YouTube channel (“Happy New Year from Lille, France,”) and my latest trip report on Substack (“Lille, France: Prepare to be impressed”)

Bonjour. Bienvenue chez Véro. Trader Joe’s. I Bonjour.

Bienvenue chez Véro.

Trader Joe’s.

I.Y.K.Y.K.
(If You Know You Know)

Here’s one of my favorite collections.

I get so emotional when I say their name my pronunciation suffers 😂

The articles I wrote about Trader Joe’s on the France with Vero blog (then “French Girl in Seattle”) remain some of my most popular stories over a decade later. Eh oui.

What about you?
Do you like Trader Joe’s?
What about their bags?

Bonjour. 01.01.26 Bonne année ! Happy New Year t Bonjour.

01.01.26

Bonne année ! Happy New Year to all!

"Mon petit doigt m'a dit" (a little birdy told me) some in this community still don't know I do most of my writing on another platform, Substack, with weekly "French Vignettes" and a free monthly newsletter, "Lettres de France."

C'est dommage. They are missing out.

Here, there and everywhere, thank you for following and/or subscribing, for our interactions, your messages and for letting me know there are people out there interested in what an {Americanized, according to my friends} French native has to say - in English - about France and French life.

I wanted to do something special to celebrate the New Year and the five-year anniversary of the small, female-owned business launched in 2020 out of necessity, “France with Vero.”

Luckily I just spent a few days in what I consider to be one of the most festive cities in France during “les Fêtes de fin d’année” (the Holidays.)

Underrated no more, Lille, Northern France, shines in December.

Members of this online community know I love to share special moments in my homeland.

Some, in France and beyond, like to label others’ efforts and confidently place them inside a box. It’s been my great pleasure to defy their expectations for years: I write, I teach, I guide and I lead virtual tours.

Here’s my newest one, filmed 48 hours ago and released - as it should - on January 1, 2026.

Bonne année à tous! Happy New Year to all !

See you later this year on more French adventures.

Imagine turning your back on (worldwide) fame at t Imagine turning your back on (worldwide) fame at the peak of your career and devoting the rest of your life (and considerable resources) to a worthy cause, animal welfare!

Brigitte Bardot was imperfect and she knew it — yet she did a lot of good as she led a reclusive life, for the world often disappointed her.

She always spoke her mind, with friends, journalists and world leaders and paid a steep price for it.

She shocked society, often. She also inspired and made a difference.

Brigitte Bardot, you were perfectly imperfect.

“What about Bardot’s legacy?,” the media will ask.

My guess is you won’t give a hoot.

Rest easy now, Madame Bardot. Fly free.

The @fondationbrigittebardot can continue to count on me.
