Bonjour. It isn’t a season in the Touraine reg Bonjour.

It isn’t a season in the Touraine region without a visit (or two, or three…) to magical Château de l’Islette.

Anyone familiar with my work has followed me there through videos, photos and even a special interview with Bénédicte Michaud, the delightful owner of l’Islette, last December (available on the France with Vero YouTube channel.)

The Michaud family - who live on site - generously open their home to the public throughout the year, offering a variety of popular public events.

I had to be there a few days ago when the fall season wrapped up with glorious and colorful flower displays courtesy of local florists and landscape artists.

November is here. The Michaud family have closed the front gate for a while, and I wish them a peaceful autumn in their beloved home.

We will all relish the fond memories of our visits to l’Islette and look forward to returning soon.

Bonjour. C’est l’automne. Autumn has arrived Bonjour.

C’est l’automne. Autumn has arrived here in the Loire Valley with its cooler weather, grey skies and falling leaves.

Memories of sunnier days will help keep us warm over the next months.

Trust the magnificent gardens at Château de Villandry to put on one last glorious, colorful show if you give them a chance.

Au revoir, octobre. See you, October.

Bonjour. October: Autumn is here to stay. Yet Bonjour.

October: Autumn is here to stay.

Yet Nice, French Riviera, doesn’t seem to care.

She beckons with sunny days, glorious sights, mesmerizing azure waters and a chilled glass of rosé.

You’re right Nice: Carpe Diem! - and damn the torpedoes!

Bonjour. The 2025 touring season just wrapped up Bonjour.

The 2025 touring season just wrapped up for this itinerant guide.

Bonus: I enjoyed a relaxing weekend in Nice after leaving my last group.

Weather: 25C (77F.) Sun.

This is October. Pas mal.

The itinerant tour guide could have booked a place near “le Vieux Nice” (Nice’s Old Town) where she’s stayed on and off during her visits for the last 15 years.

Not this time.

This time, I was the (lucky) guest of an American francophile who’s been following my virtual adventures since the world stopped turning in 2020-2021 during “Covid years.”

I loved my short stay in Nice in a lively neighborhood filled with restaurants, shopping, with the Mediterranean (“la Grande Bleue”) and the renowned “Prom” (Promenade des Anglais) at the end of the street.

Welcome to the renowned “Carré d’Or” area.

I often share my favorite addresses with the France with Vero community.

Here’s one you’ll want to save when planning your next Nice vacation.

How? C’est facile. Easy. Look up “Massenet Dream” on Booking, Abritel or AirBnB and like me, enjoy this lovely two-bedroom, two-bath condo complete with a balcony.

Bienvenue à Nice!

A bientôt,

(Lucky) Véro

Bonjour. Aujourd’hui un p’tit jeu, une devin Bonjour.

Aujourd’hui un p’tit jeu, une devinette.
Today let’s play a little guessing game.

Who’s in?

Here it goes:

If I got hit on the head; passed out then woke up on that sidewalk an hour later, I would know instantly where I am.

If by chance I didn’t, what clues would help me find my bearings?

Chime in below.
